GWADAR: The leadership of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has called off its sit-in in Gwadar and other areas of Balochistan, following a marathon round of talks with government officials that concluded late on Thursday night.

The negotiations were held in Gwadar, with senior minister Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi leading the government delegation and Dr Mahrang Baloch and Sammi Deen representing the BYC.

Officials confirmed that all issues between the government and the BYC were resolved during the final round of discussions, which lasted several hours.

Dr Mahrang then announced the decision to call off the protests in Gwadar and other regions.

“After ending our sit-in in the port city, the BYC convoy will leave for Turbat where a public gathering will be held,” she stated.

Makran Commissioner Dawood Khiliji, Gwadar DC Ham­oodur Rehman, SSP Najeeb Paindran, and National Party leader Hussain Ashraf were also part of the talks. Dr. Mahrang Baloch, the leader of the BYC has announced the conclusion the of sit-in in Gwadar. Later, the BYC supporters headed to Turbat where a gathering was held on Friday.

According to the details, matters have been decided between the government and the BYC leadership and the sit-in has ended. The negotiations from the government side were led by the Provincial Minister of Planning and Development, Zahoor Ahmed Buledi.

Participating in the negotiations were Commissioner Makran Dawood Khan Khilji, Deputy Commissioner Gwadar Hamood-ur-Rehman Ranjha, SSP Gwadar Najeeb Ullah Pindrani, and others, while the Baloch Yakjethi Committee was represented by Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Sammi Din Baloch, and Sibgatullah Baloch. Ashraf Hussain, a senior member of the National Party, played a mediating role.

On Thursday evening, the Baloch Yakjethi Committee organized a rally led by Dr. Mahrang Baloch at Padi Zair Marine Drive. A large number of people, including women, participated in the rally. It started from Syed Yadgar Chowk and a gathering was held at the sit-in site.

Following the negotiations, a committee has been established to oversee the implementation of all agreed-upon points. Once their demands are met, participants of the Gwadar sit-in are expected to proceed to Turbat in a rally today.

Negotiations were led by Provincial Minister Zahoor Buledi, along with the Commissioner of Makran Division, the Deputy Commissioner of Gwadar, and the SSP. The BYC presented their demands, including the release of detained activists, the withdrawal of cases, and compensation for public losses.

It was agreed that no force would be used against peaceful gatherings, and the Balochistan Home Department would issue a notification. Additionally, all roads in Gwadar and Makran will be reopened, and communication networks restored.

The Baloch Yakjehti Committee has announced plans to march from Gwadar to Turbat, where they will outline their future course of action.

The protests began when convoys of demonstrators, demanding the recovery of missing persons, were prevented from attending the BYC meeting in Gwadar.

Previous reports indicated that the protests had escalated into violence, resulting in clashes with security forces that left three protesters dead and at least 24 injured. Dr Mahrang Baloch, a BYC leader, claimed that a large number of supporters were detained.
