LONDON: The Bestway families’ roots are firmly embedded in Pakistan. We are also a major employer within the communities of Pakistan, who right now are experiencing one of the worst national disasters in the country’s living memory.
Giving details of flood devastation, Lord Zameer Choudrey has said that Pakistan has experienced eight devastating rainfalls over the monsoon season resulting in a third of the country being underwater, with regions in the western parts of the provinces of Baluchistan and Sindh the worst affected.
The disaster has affected more than 33 million people and the sheer scale of the flooding is unthinkable:
Over 1,000 people have lost their lives
Nearly 1.0 million homes washed away
Over 1.5 million acres of crops and 0.7 million of livestock have been wiped out
Over 3,400 kilometres of physical infrastructure destroyed
Official estimates of damages of more than US$10.0 billion.
For its part Bestway Group has donated US$1.0 million to the rehabilitation efforts in the country. Our subsidiary businesses in Pakistan, Bestway Cement Limited and United Bank Limited, are providing water bottles, cooked meals and have established medical camps to aid the flood affectees.
Lord Zameer Choudrey stated that they are working hard to provide extended support to help those affected and have launched an immediate appeal across our network. In addition to the above, we have organised a fundraising dinner at the Intercontinental London Parklane for the 23rd of September 2022, at which we expect 500 attendees.
Given the unprecedented humanitarian crisis, I look forward to your support in making the fundraiser an unparalleled success either through donations or purchasing of tables of 10 for £5,000.00 or £2,500.00 respectively.
If you are unable to attend, but feel able to contribute to this appeal, I would like to extend my sincere thanks for your support. If you wish to contribute, please make a donation on our JustGiving page:
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Pakistan who are suffering in this unprecedented calamity and hardship. I wholeheartedly appreciate your support and contribution in the country’s time of need”, Lord Zameer Choudrey appealed.
