London doctors advise
Nawaz Sharif not to
travel to Saudi Arabia
for performing Umrah


LONDON: According to reliable sources, the doctors in London on Tuesday advised former prime minister Nawaz Sharif against Umrah pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia. They have advised him not to visit to travel at this time especially the holy land owing to his health condition.

The former PM was intending to perform Umrah and pass the last 10 days of Ramadan in Madina, according to sources.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will also visit Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah along with 16 members of the Sharif family and will leave on Wednesday. According to sources, Nawaz Sharif wants to go to the Kingdom at the same time and to meet his younger brother and prime minister of Pakistan.

Nawaz Sharif got the passport and free to travel and now it all depends on him either follow the advice of doctors or to Umrah pilgrimage.

Pakistan High Commission in London has issued a passport to Nawaz Sharif recently. It may be noted that the passport of the former prime minister was revoked on Feb 16, last year, who is in London in connection with his treatment.

The PML-N supremo has been issued a Pakistani passport in the normal category for 10 years. After a change of government in Pakistan, the passport of Nawaz Sharif has been renewed on the directions of PM Shehbaz Sharif.

New government instructed the concerned authorities to issue a passport to former prime minister and he is free to travel to Pakistan. Ordinary Passport was issued on 23rd of April 2022 in Islamabad. Nawaz Sharif had an appointment at Pakistan High Commission London on the 23rd of April which was cancelled at the last minute and his fingerprints were taken at his residence by Pakistan High Commission staff, sources claimed.

The Interior Ministry in Islamabad on Monday issued a new passport to Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Quaid and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

According to the Immigration and Passport Department of Interior Ministry, an ordinary passport with validity for 10 years was issued to Nawaz Sharif. He had applied for the new one after expiry of his old passport. It was made in the “urgent” category.

Nawaz Sharif was allowed to proceed to London for four weeks on November 19, 2019 as a “one-time permission” by the Lahore High Court.

The Government of Pakistan has issued a new passport to the PML-N leader and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, enabling him to travel to Pakistan.

Official documents show that Nawaz’s passport was issued in Islamabad on April 23, 2022, at 2:49pm (PST). The nature of the passport is “ordinary”, and it was made in the “urgent” category, according to the available evidence.

The former prime minister’s new passport is valid for 10 years — till April 2032. The passport’s status is “active” as per the evidence shared by a trusted source.

A credible source said that Nawaz’s appointment for fingerprints at Pakistan High Commission was set for April 23, at Pakistan High Commission London, but it was cancelled the last time, however, the reason behind the appointment’s cancellation is not clear.

The newly sworn-in Minister for Interior Rana Sanaullah said last week that a diplomatic passport was Nawaz’s Sharif right and it would be issued to him.

“It is unfortunate that a person who has been prime minister three times is being deprived of national citizenship,” the interior minister had said. But the passport issued to Nawaz is not diplomatic but “ordinary”.
