LAHORE: In a major development, it is learnt that Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken U-turn and have decided not to replace Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar,
The development comes amid a flurry of political activity in the country after the joint opposition submitted a no-confidence resolution against Prime Minister Khan in the National Assembly.
Imran Khan discussed the overall situation with Governor Mohammad Sarwar, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and members of Parliament and provincial assembly belonging to Punkab in separate meetings today.
Earlier, the sources said the opposition has also decided to bring a no-trust motion against the Usman Buzdar government in Punjab. The no-trust motion could be submitted in the Punjab Assembly in the next 48 hours, they added.
On Tuesday, the joint opposition had submitted a no-confidence resolution against Prime Minister Imran Khan in the National Assembly secretariat. The opposition also filed a requisition notice seeking a session of the lower house of the Parliament to table the no-trust move.
PML-N’s Khawaja Saad Rafique, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Ayaz Sadiq, Rana Sanaullah, PPP’s Naveed Qamar, Shazia Marri and JUI-F’s Shahida Akhtar Ali submitted the no-trust motion in the NA Secretariat.

According to an INP report, Federal Minister for Housing Chaudhry Tariq Bashir Cheema on Friday disclosed that Prime Minister Imran Khan has agreed to bring a change in the Punjab government set-up.
Cheema revealed that the federal governments committee had conveyed to them that the prime minister had agreed to change Punjab chief minister and also extended them congratulations. On their inquiry, the committee informed that the prime minister had nodded to change in Punjab, Cheema added.
On our further inquiry about the timing for the change, the committee told them that this would be brought about after the no-confidence motion was over, Cheema said.
Governments ally Tariq Cheema said The government should not consider them a child. How can trust it that it will honour its commitment after no-trust motion.
Cheema said the Opposition had offered them Punjab chief ministership while the government had offered them lollypop. He further said the prime minister should take things seriously as he had sent an Under-16 team into the field.
Cheema said the pressure is building on PML-Q for a final decision and the party would have to make one in next 48 hours.
It may be mentioned here that Tariq Bashir Cheema had also called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad on Monday last. Matters relating to overall political situation in the country were discussed in the meeting.
