MUMBAI: Court sent Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Iqbal Kaskar to judicial custody in a money laundering case on Thursday, 24th February.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) today didn’t seek Kaskar’s custody. His custody had ended today, post which he was presented before the Court. Previously, Kaskar was sent to ED custody on February 18 for seven days by a special PMLA court in Mumbai in a money laundering case.
Earlier this month, the Enforcement Directorate conducted raids at the residence of Dawood Ibrahim’s sister Haseena Parkar in Mumbai in connection with the money laundering case. Searches carried out by the Enforcement Directorate at several places linked to the people associated with the underworld in Mumbai, informed sources on February 18.
Sources had also stated that these searches are being conducted in a recently registered money laundering case. “ED is carrying out searches at several places linked to the people associated with the underworld, in Mumbai in a money laundering case. Some underworld fugitives and politicians are also under investigation,” sources added.
These developments hold significance as NCP leader Nawab Malik was arrested by Enforcement Directorate in connection with Dawood Ibrahim’s money laundering case on Wednesday.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoned Maharashtra Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Nawab Malik’s brother Kaptan Malik in connection with Dawood Ibrahim money laundering case, informed ED sources on Thursday.
He has been asked to appear for questioning. The Special PMLA court in Mumbai on Wednesday sent Nawab Malik to Enforcement Directorate custody till March 3 in connection with alleged links with Dawood Ibrahim and a money laundering case.
Meanwhile, the court had also sent Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Iqbal Kaskar to judicial custody in a money laundering case as the probe agency didn’t seek his custody. His custody had ended today, post which he was presented before the court.
It is pertinent to note that the MVA government has rejected the demand for Nawab Malik’s resignation. On the other hand, Bharatiya Janata Party is demanding the resignation of Malik. (ANI)
Maharashtra minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Nawab Malik’s sister Saeeda Khan on Thursday said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre is unsettled with the Opposition, alleging that her brother has been taken into custody out of vendetta.
Talking to ANI, Khan said, “ED took him into custody by misusing power. The protocol wasn’t followed. I think the BJP govt is unsettled with the Opposition. This has been done out of vendetta. I went to meet him today because I’m his family physician.” “They allowed me into the building but I wasn’t allowed to meet him as his statement was being recorded. We met in a lift, and he told me that this is a fight for the truth. We have to be united and people are with us,” she added.
Khan had reached the Enforcement Directorate’s office on Thursday morning, but she was stopped outside the office.
Malik was sent to the ED custody for seven days by a court in Mumbai, in a money laundering case.
Meanwhile, ED in a remand application against Malik in Special PMLA court on Wednesday mentioned that complainant Munira Plumber had filed a complaint in small causes court in 1989 that he was forcing and threatening her to give her property (Goawala Compound) to him. (ANI)
