NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that India is continuously strengthening its image as the world’s largest millennial market.
“India is continuously strengthening its image as the world’s largest millennial market. Our needs and potential, right from a rural economy to Industry 4.0, are unlimited,” the Prime Minister said during his interaction with startups of various sectors across the country via video conferencing.
The Prime Minister also said that India’s startup ecosystem is continuously discovering and improving itself. “It is in a constant state of learning and changing,” he added.
PM Modi also said, “India’s startups are now working in 55 different industries. Five years ago, India didn’t have even 500 startups! Today, that number has crossed 60,000.”
The Prime Minister also urged the youth to follow the mantra ‘let’s Innovate for India, innovate from India’.
“Don’t just keep your dreams local, but make them global,” the Prime Minister said.
He further stressed that startups are going to be the backbone of new India.
India is going to celebrate January 16 as ‘National Startup Day, the Prime Minister said.
This decade is being called as ‘techade’ of India: PM Modi
Meanwhile, in an interaction with startups, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that this decade is being called as ‘techade’ of India adding that programmes like Startup India and Standup India will further the efforts of the government in strengthing India’s title of ‘Techade’.
Emphasizing that the startup ecosystem liberate entrepreneurs, innovation from government processes, bureaucratic silos, the Prime Minister said, “This decade is being called as ‘techade’ of India.”
Highlighting the massive changes that the government is making in this decade to strengthen the innovation, entrepreneurship and start-up ecosystem, the Prime Minister said that it has three important aspects.
“First, to liberate entrepreneurship, innovation from the web of government processes, bureaucratic silos. Second, creating an institutional mechanism to promote innovation. And third, handholding of young innovators, youth enterprise,” the Prime Minister said during his virtual interaction with startups of different sectors across the country.
PM Modi also said that Startup India and Standup India programmes will further our efforts in strengthing India’s title of ‘Techade’.
PM Modi interacted with startups via video conferencing under the “Celebrating Innovation Ecosystem” section of the event.
In a bid to spread startup culture far and wide across the country, the Prime Minister has announced that January 16 will now be celebrated as ‘National Startup Day’.
“2022 has brought new horizons for Indian startup ecosystem. When India will complete 100 years of independence, startups will play a huge role,” PM Modi said.
India is proud of stellar contribution of Army
As India is celebrating Indian Army Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said India is proud of the stellar contribution of the Army in Peacekeeping Missions overseas.
The Prime Minister also highlighted that Indian Army personnel serve in hostile terrains and are at the forefront of helping fellow citizens during a humanitarian crisis.

Army Day is observed every year on January 15 to celebrate the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army – Field Marshal Kodandera M Cariappa.
