ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Monday strongly criticise the remarks of Indian Defence Minister as “unwarranted, gratuitous and provocative”, questioning established historical facts, levelling unfounded allegations in the context of terrorism, and hurling threats against Pakistan.

“It is the BJP’s special forte to misrepresent history, resort to revisionism and delusional thinking, and indulge in false bravado. Such discourse is particularly evident whenever elections in key states in India are approaching,” the Foreign Office Spokesperson said in response to Indian minister’s statement at an event he made in New Delhi on Sunday.

He said the timing of the Indian Defence Minister’s provocative rhetoric was, therefore, not surprising, as the BJP-RSS combine was desperate to win elections in Uttar Pradesh and other states, typically inciting hyper nationalism and seeking to advance the extremist ‘Hindutva’ agenda.

The spokesperson said the Indian defence minister’s chest-thumping and war-mongering is nothing but further evidence of India’s irresponsible behavior and its relentless belligerence towards Pakistan.

He said as regards the issue of terrorism, the international community was well aware of how the Hindutva-inspired regime in India was carrying out state-terrorism against the Kashmiris in Jammu and Kashmir.

In November last year, Pakistan also presented a comprehensive dossier with irrefutable evidence of the Indian government’s planning, aiding, abetting, financing and executing terrorist activities in Pakistan.

The spokesperson said the world was aware that Pakistan was fully capable of thwarting India’s aggressive designs.

The BJP leaders will be well-advised to desist from any ill-conceived misadventure and also stop dragging Pakistan in India’s domestic politics for electoral gains,” he said.

Killing in Jammu & Kashmir

Meanwhile, Pakistan on Tuesday condemned the killing of another two Kashmiris by the Indian forces in Srinagar.

Foreign Office Spokesman Asim Iftikhar

Foreign Office Spokesperson Asim Iftikhar in response to media queries highlighted the killing of innocent Kashmiris in fake encounters and staged cordon-and-search-operations by Indian occupation forces in J&K.

“Resulting from an unrelenting killing spree and egregious violations of human rights and international humanitarian law in J&K, 19 innocent Kashmiris have been martyred with impunity by Indian occupation forces in the last one month alone,” he said.

The Spokesperson said, “The gross and systematic human rights violations by the ‘Hindutva inspired’ BJP-RSS government in India warrant investigation by UN Commission of Inquiry (COI) as recommended by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in its reports of 2018 and 2019.”

He said Pakistan reiterates its call for the international community including the UN to take immediate cognizance of the worsening human rights situation in J&K, listen to the voices of the oppressed Kashmiris and help them in their just and legitimate struggle for their right to self-determination.
