issues at ISI Secretariat

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan, cabinet ministers and all three chiefs of staff discussed security issues at ISI Secretariat in Islamabad today (Friday). Imran Khan appreciated the diligent efforts of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) for national security and expressed his satisfaction over professional preparedness.

The Prime Minister along with key Federal Ministers, Chief Ministers of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa visited the ISI Secretariat.

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar were also present. Lieutenant General Faiz Hamid, Director General Inter Services Intelligence welcomed the dignitaries.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan, Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa and DG-ISI Lt. Gen Faiz Hamid are coming to attend the meeting at the ISI Secretariat on Friday.

A comprehensive briefing was given to the National and Military leadership on the national security and regional dynamics with focus on ongoing situation in Afghanistan.

Prime Minister has made multiple visits to ISI headquarters during the ongoing year in the last such visit, he chaired a meeting of the National Intelligence Coordination Committee there which was attended by heads of intelligence agencies, Intelligence Bureau (IB), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

Those accompanied the prime minister in the meeting included Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed,

Federal Religious Minister Noorul Haq Qadri, Dr. Moeed Yusuf and chief ministers of Balochistan and KPK.

The prime minister was given a detailed briefing on enhancing intelligence cooperation as he expressed his satisfaction over the performance of the National Intelligence Coordination Committee.

According to informed sources, the meeting was most important and significant and apart from Prime Minister Imran Khan and Gen Bajwa, Lt. Gen Faiz Hamid briefed the participants about regional situation particularly on-going efforts for the formation of inclusive government in Afghanistan. Role of India, Qatar, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and other countries, and recent tour of world dignitaries.

The sources added that the significance of the meeting can be imagined by the nature of the participants and the federal ministers and chief ministers of Balochistan and KPK did not attend at a time before. “One of the main agenda of the meeting was the speech of Imran Khan at the UN General Assembly and the participants expressed their views which were considered accordingly.
