ISLAMABAD: Saudi Chief of General Staff Lt. General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili on Tuesday inaugurated the new headquarters of the kingdom’s military attaché in Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Al-Ruwaili said the opening of the office reflected the deep cooperation between the two countries, applauding defense and security relations between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. The general said the military attaché’s office would strengthen ties further and work as a bridge of communication and fruitful cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries.

His Excellency stressed that the opening of the new military attaché building reflects the support of the wise leadership to support common interests and the extent of cooperation between the two countries in all fields. 

The inauguration ceremony for the office was also attended by the Saudi ambassador to Pakistan, the military attaché at the embassy, and other senior officials and diplomats.

Meeting with Gen Bajwa

A high-level military delegation led by General Fayyadh Bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, Chief of General Staff (CGS), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, called on General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) at General Headquarters on August 16.

During the meeting, geo-strategic environment, security situation in Afghanistan and matters of mutual interest were discussed including bilateral defence cooperation and Training Exchange Programme. In view of the evolving regional security situation, Saudi CGS expressed full support for Pakistan’s efforts for peace in the region.

The dignitary acknowledged Pakistan Army’s achievements in war against terrorism and contributions for regional peace and stability. Saudi CGS thanked Pakistan Army for its sustained assistance in training of Saudi Armed Forces and expressed his desire to enhance bilateral defence collaboration.

Earlier on arrival at GHQ, General Fayyadh Bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili laid floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada. A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented Guard of Honour to the visiting dignitary.

Meeting with Gen Nadeem

Saudi Chief of General Staff General Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili called on Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Nadeem Raza at the Joint Staff Headquarters in Rawalpindi and discussed matters of mutual interest, the military said.

During the meeting, both sides deliberated upon various areas of mutual interest, bilateral cooperation including defence and security, counter-terrorism and the prevailing regional environment particularly with reference to Afghanistan and Jauum & Kashmir.

The dignitaries dilated upon measures to enhance the level and scope of military engagements between both countries and reaffirmed to continue to forge deeper ties, it added.

They agreed that both countries share a great history of cordial relations and a deep spirit of brotherhood which is being transformed into an enduring partnership.

Gen Nadeem said that in pursuit of closer military and strategic cooperation both countries share a common perception on all national and international issues. “The dignitary lauded the high professionalism of Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism,” read the statement.

The CJCSC thanked the Saudi general for acknowledging Pakistan Army’s achievements in the war against terrorism, sacrifices and contribution to regional peace and stability.

Earlier, upon arrival at the Joint Staff Headquarters, a smartly turned-out tri-services contingent presented guard of honour to the visiting dignitary.
