ISLAMABAD: Former president Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday thanked Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz supremo Nawaz Sharif and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman for supporting Yousuf Raza Gilani, the joint candidate of PDM in Senate elections, sources said.

ISLAMABAD: Former President Asif Ali Zardar interacted with the President PML-N, Shahbaz Sharif at the National Assembly on Wednesday.

Well-informed sources said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari telephoned Nawaz Sharif and Maulana Fazlur Rehman to extend his gratitude over support to Yousuf Raza Gilani in Senate polls.

Gilani was the joint candidate of the opposition parties and his success is PDMs victory, said Fazlur Rehman. The members from the treasury benches are in contact with the opposition parties, claimed Zardari and Nawaz Sharif, sources said.

Matters related to the future course of the strategy of the anti-government movement also came under discussion, while they demanded of Prime Minister Imran Khan to step down from his office after losing Islamabads Senate seat.

It is pertinent to mention here that the former prime minister and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) stalwart Yousuf Raza Gilani won his senate seat from Islamabad where he was vying against Pakistan Tehreek-e Insafs (PTI) Hafeez Shaikh for which the polling was conducted in the National Assembly.

Imran should resign: Nawaz

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that Imran Khan should resign immediately for the sake of peoples’ relief. Addressing a party gathering through social media on Thursday, Nawaz Sharif said that Musharraf also tried to divide PML-N but he saw failure.

Former Prime Minister, right after PDM’s victory in senate elections demanded Prime Minister Imran Khan to resign. ‘‘We eradicated load shedding from Pakistan. We eliminated terrorism and constructed motorways. But unfortunately, some people never liked Nawaz Sharif”, said Former Prime Minister.

Nawaz Sharif addressing party workers said that I am talking to you to encourage you. Current government was result of rigged elections and it failed miserably to solve public’s problems.

Talking about Daska’s recent by-polls, Nawaz said that presiding officers were abducted during the by-elections. PML-N workers and Rana Sanaullah caught them red-handed.

Criticizing the PTI government, Former PM said that inflation is at its peak. When people protest against this inflation government hits them with tear gas and shells. I want to inform all the undemocratic forces and their protectors that we will kick them out of the battle.
