IHC flays govt
over missing persons
ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has observed and remarked that incidents of missing persons are government incompetence and state failure. The court further remarked all security agencies have failed in protecting the citizens.
“People have been lifted for the last six year. Reply will have to be given at every cost. Stern decisions will be taken if court’s decisions are not implemented. If someone has to flee from the country he should flee”.
The contempt of court plea filed by Zainab Zaeem in connection with recovery of her husband Omar Abdllah came up for hearing Monday. Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiani took up the case for hearing Monday.

The court while expressing annoyance over non implementation of court’s orders issued notices to the parties concerned. The court issued notices to former interior secretary, former foreign secretary, former IG Jan Muhammad and others and directed them to appear before it in person.
The court remarked only uniforms have been put on and no one has to do the job. Don’t serve the country with illegal jobs.
The court inquired what is status of FIR. The case is registered since the last six years. The investigation officer told the court the investigation is underway.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiani remarked the petition remained pending hearing for three years. Opportunities have been afforded to you for 26 times. When you have not to do job and the court has to do work then what are you doing here. Why the interior secretary has not come?

Joint secretary told the court interior secretary is sick.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiani remarked you all have made fun of it. I will take action against all incluiding interior secretary. Interior secretary has no right to remain on his post. You have lifted the people in last 6 years. You have to give reply; No one will come from other country to give reply. Missing persons is government incompetence. Islamabad police can curb only small crimes. They are not capable to recover the people. Harsh decision will be taken if court’s orders are not implemented. All the security agencies have failed in protecting the citizens. If the parties concerned don’t appear on next hearing then arrest warrants will be issued. If someone has to flee the country he should flee. I will get implement court’s orders at every cost. After taking action against all of them I will take action against the sitting IG and sitting interior secretary.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiani while addressing SSP remarked “you have performed much duty. I will send you all to home. The court adjourned the hearing of the case till January 29.
