KARACHI: The engagement ceremony of Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari, eldest daughter of former president Asif Ali Zardari and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto took place at Bilawal House on Friday as prominent personalities from across the country participated in the event.
According to family sources, Asif Zardari’s sister Faryal Talpur, Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, sister of Benazir Bhutto, Sanam Bhutto, PPP leader Dr Asim Hussain, Omni Group Chairman Khawaja Anwar Majeed, Senator Sherry Rehman, former law minister and Mr Zardari’s counsel Farooq H. Naek and others attended the ceremony which took place at Bilawal House in Karachi.

Bakhtawar and her fiancé Mahmood Chaudhary wore traditional Pakistani dresses in their engagement ceremony.
Bakhtawar’s brother and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari — who had tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this week— greeted the guests via video link.
Ms Bhutto-Zardari and her fiancé Mahmood Chaudhry exchanged rings amid celebratory shouting and clapping from the guests, who included a few senior politicians, PPP leaders, business giants, real estate tycoons, prominent lawyers, some legislators and close relatives.
Taking to Twitter earlier in the day, she wrote, “Very sentimental and emotional day. So grateful for everyone’s love and prayers.”
She went on to add, “Especially our PPP family whom I know are eager to participate. InshAllah this is only the beginning – will be able to celebrate in a post-Covid world. Please keep SMBB and our family in your prayers.”
