NC says BJP misleading people over Farooq Abdullah’s remarks

SRINAGAR: National Conference (NC) Monday accused BJP of “completely twisting” remarks of its President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and misleading people with its trademark narrative.

Farooq Abdullah

According to a statement issued here today, the party affirmed that Abdullah had never justified China’s expansionist mindset or aggression by that country during an interview to TV channel here yesterday as claimed by BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra earlier in the day in New Delhi.
“Our President articulated the people’s anger over the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A by Parliament on August 5 last year as he has consistently done in recent months. He emphasized that no one in Jammu and Kashmir was willing to accept Aug 05 2019 changes,” NC spokesman said

He claimed that Abdullah’s comments on China in response to a question had been “completely twisted” by Patra who accused the NC President of justifying Chinese aggression and expansionist mindset. “Sambit Patra has a habit of twisting words and using the bully pulpit of the BJP office to lie when it suits the political agenda of his party. Dr Farooq never said that together with China we will bring back Article 370 as Patra claimed at a media briefing in which he also misquoted some previous statements of Dr Abdullah”, spokesman said.
Notably NC President, according to media reports, had said that Article 370 will be restored in Jammu and Kashmir with the help of China. He had also said that the decisions taken on August 5, 2019 paved way for China to build pressure on India through Ladakh.
