Govts in Balochistan and Punjab to be changed soon

ISLAMABAD: In view of prevailing overall political scenario, the well informed sources have hinted towards big change in government set-up in Punjab. Just last week, Prime Minister Imran Khan summoned the Chief Minister Usman Buzdar in his office at PM House and discussed the situation.

The informed sources claimed that Imran Khan drew attention of CM Buzdar to political situation and said that he is not happy and satisfy with the existing situation.

A media report has also supported the prediction referring to a incident that after an important meeting with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Prime Minister Imran Khan is considering to remove Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar from his post and reshuffling the provincial cabinet.

Sources further informed that the present government is not satisfied with the performance of the Punjab Chief Minister. Earlier, the prime minister had summoned progress report of the minister from Punjab chief minister and also sought performance report of the Punjab government from various departments. Sources said after reviewing the report the PM had express displeasure.

According to the sources, the name of Yawar Bokhari is under consideration for the post of CM Punjab. Notably, CM Buzdar has also used his former association with the PML-Q to his full advantage. He continues to play a bridge between the PTI and PML-Q. The ability to lend a soft ear to PML-Q while managing the internal grumblings of PTI has added to his longevity in office.

Referring the Balochistan situation, the political sources said that the opposition parties are active to replace the Balochistan government, credible sources said on Thursday. The credible sources said that PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has given the task of Balochistan government to his close friend Qayyum Soomro while Balochistan Assembly Speaker Abdul Quddus and many other members are not happy with the performance of Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan.

 The sources said that JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman had held a meeting with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in Karachi, in which they had developed consensus to change the provincial government in Balochistan.

Former president has tasked his close friends following the decision of that meeting. The opposition claims that it has support of 30 members provincial assembly and it needs support of just three more members to replace the government.

PPP and JUI-F claim that they will be able to get support of one each member of PML-N and Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party. They said they will try to get support of one independent candidate in order to remove the PTI coalition government in Balochistan.

While four members of ANP have already assured their support to the opposition parties for their support in Balochistan. The sources said that 10 members of Balochistan National Party-Mengal now will support the opposition.

In this regard, the sources claim that Asif Ali Zardari has convinced Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Eleven members of MMA and one member of JamhooriWatan Party are active against the existing government. Efforts are being made to break two members of Hazara Democratic Party (HDP) and three members of Balochistan National Party so that the opposition can ensure support of 35 to 36 members in the provincial assembly.

The sources said that Senate Chairman SadiqSanjrani is also not happy with the performance of Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal. He also wants replacement of the chief minister of the province.

PPP co-chairman has also assured JUI-F chief that all opposition parties will support each other in the upcoming Senate elections from Baluchistan.
