James Shera condemns

Councillor Dr. James Shera, former Mayor of Rugby, condemned the attack on a Gurdwara in Derby on Monday (May 25). Dr. Shera said, “Our great country, the UK, is proud of its diversity of nationals of various ethnicities, including the Kashmiri nation. We know how Kashmiris are! They have always respected worship places of other religious communities. They understand the sanctity of religious sentiments having constantly suffered from denial by the Indian forces to freely offer prayers. Given the stated facts, this random one off incident in the UK is intriguing. Who is this person? What actually prompted him, is it his insane state of mind?

He said; “Kashmiris have been living peacefully in harmony with all other nationals of various origins and religious belief, including the Indian origin people despite the atrocities perpetrated against their people in J&K”.

The statement added; “Kashmiris in the Indian occupied Kashmir as well as in the UK know it well that a large number of people of various walks of life in this country have raised the strongest voice against the human rights violations committed by the Indian forces in occupied Kashmir.”

The statement was endorsed by the UK Pakistani Christian leaders including: Dr Peter David, Dr Noshaba Khiljee, Councillor Morris Johns, Advocate Qamar Shams, former MPA Saleem Khokar, Reverend John Bosco, Mr Michael Massey, and Mr. Qamar Rafique.
