RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa presided over the Corps Commanders Conference at GHQ in Rawalpindi on Tuesday. Director General, ISPR, Major Gen Asif Ghafoor was to address a press conference on Wednesday brief on the deliberations but his briefing was postponed.
The sources said that the Corps Commanders’ conference continued for seven hours. The forum reviewed geo-strategic and national security environment. The participants of the meeting discussed internal security, situation along eastern and western border, Line of Control and in Jammu and Kashmir.
The DG ISPR also tweeted a video from the meeting informing the timing of the press conference. The briefing is considered significant as the regional situation is highly hostile and volatile and the conference was India focussed.
It was later stated that Major General Asif Ghafoor’s press conference has been postponed and he has left for Peshawar for operational engagement. DG ISPR will, in the next press conference, address important issues pertaining to internal and external security of Pakistan.
