Bilal jailed for battering woman unconscious

MANCHESTER: A man who staged a car crash in a bid to frame an innocent woman he beat unconscious during a row over texting has been jailed. Bilal Muhammed, 24, deliberately drove his VW into a lamp post then falsely claimed his victim, a mum-of-one, had crashed the vehicle while trying to run him down in the street.

In fact Muhammed had dragged the woman from the car in a rage then beat and kicked her until she lost consciousness following an argument about him sending pictures of them on a night out together to her boyfriend, Manchester Online has reported.

He then attempted to falsely blame the victim for causing her own injuries in the ‘crash’ only to subsequently confess after police refused to believe his account. Muhammed had 10 previous offences on his record including battery, assault and affray.

At Minshull Street Crown Court, Muhammed of Newbold, Rochdale, pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm and perverting the course of justice. He was jailed for 21 months.

In a statement, the victim said: “I was told I would recover from some of my facial injuries. As a result of being assaulted, the right side of my forehead and around my right eye has no feeling and I can no longer lift my eyebrow. The right side of my face is permanently numb.

“What happened to me has had a massive impact on me, I’ve been feeling depressed and particularly low, I stay at home and I am hiding as I don’t want to go outside. I have huge problems sleeping, I regularly lie awake reliving what he did to me and I often don’t fall asleep until 5am.
