BIRMINGHAM: A man has been charged with murdering his mother and step-father at their home in Oldbury. Anmol Chana, 25, was appeared in court accused of killing Jasbir Kaur, 52, and her husband Rupinder Singh Bassan, 51.
According to West
Midlands Police, the couple were found dead at their home in Moat Road,
Oldbury, at around 4am on Tuesday. Police had forced their way into their home
after concerns were raised for their welfare.
They were pronounced dead at the scene and had suffered serious injuries. The post-mortems will be held tomorrow to establish the precise cause of death.
Chana was arrested a short time after the discovery, at his home in Hamilton Road, Smethwick. Later, he was charged with the murders and was appeared before Birmingham Magistrates Court (27 February).
In another development, the couple’s Toyota Aygo, which had disappeared from their home, was found this morning in Smethwick after a member of the public spotted our appeal to track down the car.It will now be examined by forensic experts.
Det Insp Hannah Whitehouse, leading the investigation, said: “I’d like to thank people for the response to our appeal which has directly led us to recovering the car. “We’re continuing to support the family of Jasbir and Rupinder at this awful time.”
