NEW DELHI: Indian Home Minister Amit Shah has accused Congress and AAP of provoking the youth and the main minority community to cause “riots” in the national capital during protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and said Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal had spoken in favour of those who had raised anti-India slogans on the JNU campus two years ago.
Addressing an election rally at Matiala here to start the BJP’s campaign for Delhi assembly elections, Shah took repeated digs at the Delhi Chief Minister and said if the competition to make false promises is held in the country, “Kejriwal will definitely come first”.
He alleged the people in the national capital were getting “the worst quality of water” in the country and alleged that the AAP government has not implemented Ayushman Bharat Scheme so that the poor do not vote for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said the AAP and its leader have not won any election in the last five years after winning the Delhi polls.
He urged the people to give Prime Minister Modi a chance to transform Delhi into a front-ranking world capital city and talked of the surgical strike in PoK and aerial strikes in Balakot in Pakistan on terror targets as also of revocation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. He also referred to the Supreme Court verdict in the Ayodhya case.
Referring to the CAA, Shah accused Congress leader Rahul and Kejriwal of creating obstacles in refugees from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh getting Indian citizenship. “Should refugees who have come from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh get Indian citizenship or not. They have faced atrocities. Where should they go? We talked of giving them citizenship but Kejriwal and Rahul Gandhi are creating obstacles,” he said.
“Rahul Baba and company, please listen carefully. Abuse us as much as you want, abuse our party as much as you want but those who speak of breaking India will be put in the jail,” said Shah.
The BJP leader said Kejriwal and Rahul baba had sought proof during an airstrike and surgical strike and accused them of speaking the language of Pakistan.
“If you had seen Pakistan TV channels, there would not be the need for a bigger proof,” he said.
Shah said the Tricolour was touching the sky in Kashmir after the revocation of Article 370. “Congress used to say if the Article is removed, there will be rivers of blood. Nothing of the sort happened and Kashmir became an integral part of India”.
He alleged that the Kejriwal government did not give permission to charge sheet those who had raised anti-India slogans.
While addressing a public meeting here in Badli on Saturday, Amit Shah said that all those who will raise slogans against ‘Bharat Mata’ (Mother India) will be put behind bars. “You can abuse as much as you want. But anyone who shouts slogans against Mother India will be put inside jail. Their place is behind bars,” said Shah.
Citing slogans that were raised in the Jawaharlal Nehru University two years back, Shah said: “Anti-India slogans — ‘India you will be broken into thousand pieces’ — were raised inside the JNU campus. Tell me, should those who talk about breaking India be put in jail or not?”
“If we put them in jail, then Rahul Baba (Rahul Gandhi) and Kejriwal (AAP chief) say that they have a right to freedom of speech,” he said. “We sent those people to jail who raised the slogan of ‘Bharat tere tukde ho hazar’ in JNU two years ago… But Kejriwal government has not sanctioned the prosecution of these people and they are roaming free. Kejriwal, do you want to give sanction to prosecute them or not?” he asked.
