Tributes paid to Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan at musical evening


LONDON: To pay special tribute to great legendary Pakistani vocalist late Ustaad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, a joint celebrations was organised by Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Music Academy, MR Solicitors and David Solicitor at Ilford Town Hall on Sunday (December 22). The event was hosted by Babar Bukhari and Guest of Honour was Barrister Waheed ur Rehman and Fasih Ali Shah.

The event was opened with recitation of Holy Quran by Babar Bukhari and Nasheeds by Prince Abbas. In his opening speech, Alderman Mushtaq Lashari CBE and in keynote speech, senior journalist Nazir Leghari (President and Editor-in-Chief, Bol Television) highlighted the valued contribution of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan in folk music especially in the field of Qawwali, ghazal and geet.

They stated that Qawwali and its presentation were the main reason for the popularity of Ustaad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. They said Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was a legendary personalty responsible for spreading the true message of humanity and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan all over the world through his Singing and music. Nusrat’s musical thoughts, vision, personality and his great works will remain alive in our hearts forever. Live performances were also given by Chand Ali Qawwal, Sohail Salamat, Ustaad Shabir Khan Gullu, Ustad Rajib Ali Khan, Nirmal Shah, Zaman R Qawwal, Sabir Mirza, Sagheer Khan, Zaheer Gull and others. Also present were Syed Saeed Anwar, Mian Shahid Gogi, Iftekhar Qaiser, Saeed Mahmood, Zaffar Tanvir, Amjed Khan, Tanvir Zaman, Naeem Khan, Aneesa Nasir, Ayub Cheema, Najeeb Papu, Jabbar Dhogal, Younis Afreedi, Asad Nawaz, Amer Kiyani, Khawar Mirza, Samiya Ali, Nassrah Naaz, Riffat Butt, Sonia Rukhsana, Sumera, Somia Rukhsana, Abdullah Meer, Shaukat, Maqsood Hussain, Mohammed Jameel, Ghaz Butt, Almara Awan and others.
