RAWALAKOT:  AJK President Sardar Masood Khan has stressed that unity, tolerance and harmony among all political parties is needed at this delicate juncture of the ongoing struggle for the liberation of held territory from the Indian shackles. “We can succeed in achieving our national objectives only by providing harmony among various tribes, clans and communities in Azad Kashmir,” he asserted.

The AJK president was talking to delegations from different union councils including Bangoin, Jandala and Horna Mera who called on him at Rawalakot Circuit House here. The delegations were led by PML-N President Constituency LA-04 Sardar Ashiq Hussain and Maulana Abdur Rauf.

Sardar Masood said that Indian forces had intensified repressions in Kashmir since Narendra Modi has been re-elected as prime minister of India. “The pro-freedom leaders including Yasin Malik, Asiya Andrabi, Naida Ansari, Fehmida Soofi and Shabbir Shah have been detained in the notorious Tihar Jail in Delhi in the worst conditions, while Mirwaiz Omar Farooq and Syed Ali Gilani have also been under detention,” he lamented.

In this state of affairs, he underlined that the responsibilities of the political leadership of Azad Kashmir increase manifold. He stressed that instead of indulging in leg pulling of each other, our political leaders need to demonstrate complete unity in their rank and file to vigorously carry forward the liberation movement.

Sardar Masood Khan said that the AJK government was paying special attention to the improvement of infrastructure in the liberated territory, particularly the construction of roads and promotion of health, education, tourism, industrial and agriculture sectors and the dividends of various projects will reach the masses shortly.

On this occasion, the delegations informed the AJK president about problems in their respective areas, including provision of basic amenities like the building of roads, construction of water tanks, and up-gradation of local schools and introduction of science classes there.
