Ten Pegging Festival in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The two-day annual tent pegging event in connection with Margalla Festival, organised by Metropolitan Corporation of Islamabad (MCI) has been concluded at Fatima Jinnah Park Islamabad.

Over 700 horsemen from 150 tent pegging clubs of Punjab, K-P and AJK participated in the event. People turned in droves to Fatima Jinnah Park on Friday and Saturday to witness a game of flying spears and tent-pegs, saw over 700 riders and their horses galloping for glory in the ancient sport.

Deputy Mayor Islamabad Syed Zesshan Ali Naqvi was at the concluding ceremony to hand over the prizes to the top chargers and was also chief organiser of the event.

After two days of gruelling matches of one the 10 internationally recognised of equestrian sports, Hamza Ali Bukahri from Hussania Naqvi al-Bukhari Club led by the Deputy Mayor Zesshan Naqvi lifted the top prize of individual horseman.

The second position in section category went to Sultania Al Awan club led by the Sultan Safadar Ali and Yasir Iqbal Jadoon.

The festival attracted hundreds of people from Islamabad and Rawalpindi besides a handsome number of people flocking in from other parts of the country to back their respective teams and riders.

On the occasion, Deputy Mayor Syed Zeeshan Naqvi said that MCI is committed to promoting cultural and traditional activities for the residents of the Federal Capital.
