Spicy Fish Curry is a dish associated with South Indian cuisine and is dish that you can prepare for your loved ones on special occasions. This fish recipe is cooked using fish fillets, potato, onion paste, green peas, tomato and a melange of authentic south Indian spices. Ingredients

4 fish fillet

1 teaspoon powder turmeric

4 teaspoon mustard oil

1/2 teaspoon 5 spice powder

1 teaspoon ginger paste

2 crushed to paste green chillies

1 teaspoon cumin powder

1 teaspoon red chili powder

4 cup water

1/4 cup green peas

1 medium chopped potato

salt as required

1 bay leaf

1/2 cup onion paste

1 teaspoon garlic paste

2 teaspoon crushed to paste mustard seeds

1/2 teaspoon coriander powder

1/4 cup chopped tomato

1 handful chopped coriander leaves

Preparation

Step 1

To make this main dish recipe, marinate the fish fillets and potato pieces in salt and turmeric for about 10-15 minutes in a large bowl. Now, heat mustard oil in a pan over medium flame and fry the fish pieces in it till they start to appear golden.

Step 2

For the curry, heat oil in a deep-bottomed pan over medium flame. Add bay leaf and 5 spice powder in the hot oil. When it starts to sizzle, add onions, ginger paste, garlic paste, green chili paste and mustard paste and cook for about 20-40 seconds on medium flame. Now, add salt, turmeric, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder sequentially and cook until the masala starts to separates from the oil.

Step 3

Once the masala is ready, add the chopped tomatoes along with the fried potatoes and mix well. Add some water and cover the lid and cook for 2 minutes on medium flame.

Step 4

When the tomatoes are cooked and start becoming soft, add green peas and marinated fish fillets. Stir to mix all the ingredients and add more water for the gravy. Cook the gravy until it turns into a thick gravy. Once done, take it off the flame and transfer it in a bowl. Garnish the preparation with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or breads of your choice to enjoy!
