Nafees Zakaria appreciates patriotic gesture of Pak origin British Parliamentarians

LONDON: Pakistan High Commissioner Mohammad Nafees Zakaria hosted a lunch for Pak origin British Parliamentarians here at the high commission on Thursday. About ten legislators attended the event and discussed Pak-UK relations, Brexit issue and Kashmir imbroglio in detail.

Nafees Zakaria briefed them the details of three events on Kashmir to be held in London on Monday and Tuesday. The Parliamentarians express their views in subjects came under deliberation during the meeting. Most of them are reportedly part of organisers of these events.

Early last week,  four Members of Parliament including Rehman Chishti MP, Imran Hussain MP, M. Afzal Khan and Sajjad Karim MEP held separate meetings with High Commissioner Nafees Zakaria at the high commission on Monday and Thursday respectively and discussed the arrangements of Kashmir Conference and Reception apart from other affairs.

While appreciating the gesture of Pak origin British Parliamentarians, Nafees Zakaria said the heartiest and emotional feelings of these legislators for Kashmir is highly satisfactory and oppressed Kashmiri people have great expectations from them. “We shall make both occasions exceptional and successful”, he said.

The Parliamentarians assured him that this time, the members of both the houses of the Parliament will attend both functions in record number. “We are in constant contact with our colleagues and not only all 12 Pak-origin Parliamentarians but atleast 40 MPs will be there to echo the voice for Kashmiris”, they stated.

Nafees Zakaria said that the time has come to highlight the Kashmir issue with full vigour on international level and to pressurise the world to come forward for the help of Kashmiri victims. “Overall situation at LoC is highly volatile and now killing of innocent people has become a routine of every day. It should be stopped. Both the events would be helpful in stressing this dangerous situation”, he added.
