MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan has donated 50 wheelchairs to para-athletes on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. In September, the actor had attended Paralympic Committee of India’s (PCI) send-off for Indian Contingent at Asian Para Games 2018 with Deepa Malik (first Indian woman to win a medal in Paralympic Games).
The ‘Raees’ star termed the cause virtuous and also heaped praises on Malik, while adding that it is a privelige to be associated with the Paralympian.
“It has been a privilege knowing and associating with Deepa Malik for a cause as virtuous as this. She is not just an inspiration to many but also a reflection of ourselves as we all are incomplete in one way or the other, it only depends on how we embrace our imperfections and achieve our goals. Felicitating the upcoming para-athletes is our step towards achieving the dream of representing India at the Paralympics,” he said.
Deepa, too, has been a actively involved in motivating para-atletes. She is also the co-founder of Wheeling Happiness Foundation. Sharing her thoughts on the association with SRK she said, “It is an extremely gracious step by Shah Rukh Khan’s Meer Foundation to extend their support to Wheeling Happiness to enable the parathletes as it not only facilitates them but also motivates and boosts their confidence.”
SRK has actively lent his support to those in need through his non-profit organisation, Meer Foundation. The foundation has also provided support to various acid attack survivors and extended aid to those affected by the deluge in Kerala.
Emphasises on education
Meanwhile, addressing an event in Mumbai, SRK said; “I really believe in education and with the intervention of social media we have a larger platform to promote it,” said Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan.
The superstar attended the event with Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis. Talking about how social media affects the education sector, the 53-year-old highlighted the importance of collaboration of existing colleges and universities.
“I truly believe that specialised education can happen in collaborations with foreign universities. Students in Mumbai and in all other parts of the country need to be educated because the world is changing so much with greater competition,” said SRK.
Taking to his Instagram, the actor thanked Fadnavis for making him a part of the event. He wrote, “Thank u sir @Dev_Fadnavis for making me a part of Mumbai 2.0. This is our city and we will do everything with you to make it more creative, competitive & culturally inclusive. Aamchi Magical Mumbai.”
He further said that social media is making everybody media savvy. Concluding his statement, the ‘Raees’ star stated that he aspires to build a “Magical Mumbai”. He said, “I believe we can build a Magical Mumbai with three C’s- Healthy competition, Creativity and Cultural inclusiveness.”
Seems like superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan is prepping up to be just like her father. The doting dad, who often showers love and praises on his kids, again took to social media to laud Suhana after watching her play ‘Juliet’ in London. The Badshaah of Bollywood even commended the entire team for the exceptional work.“With my Juliet in London. What a wonderful experience and exceptional performances by the whole cast. Congratulations to the whole team,” wrote the ‘Raees’ star.
SRK’s darling daughter made her entry into the glamour world by becoming Vogue India’s cover star for their August issue. It is also well known that Suhana is keen on becoming an actor, however, her parents – Shah Rukh and Guari Khan – have insisted that she completes her education first.
Meanwhile, King Khan is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film ‘Zero’. Also starring Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, the Aanand L. Rai-directorial is slated to release on December 21. (ANI)
