LONDON: Former AJK Prime Minister and PTI-AJK president Barrister Sultan Mahmood held a meeting with British Parliamentarians here at the Parliament on Wednesday and briefed them about the prevailing situation in Kashmir particularly at the Line of Control (LoC).
“Overall situation in J&K and eastern border is highly volatile and provocative due to human rights violations by the Indian forces. It is the high time that the international community should come forward and exercise its influence on Indian leadership to stop these violations”, he urged.
Referring the All Parties Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Kashmir’s latest enquiry report, Sultan Mahmood said this report is an eye-opener and should be treated as ‘writing on wall’.
“The report highlights the draconian laws due to which Indian security forces are committing human rights abuses in the IOK with impunity and urges Indian government to repeal them”, he said.
The Parliamentarians with whom Sultan Mahmood had interaction were including Lord Nazir Ahmed, Lord Qurban Hussain, Lloyd Russel, Ruth Smeet, Imran Hussain, Gareth Snell, Alex Sobel, Deputy Speaker Rosie Winterton, Kate Hollern, Khalid Mahmood, Jon Crudass.
