MUMBAI:  A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Bollywood veteran Nana Patekar at the Oshiwara Police Station over the sexual harassment allegations made by Tanushree Dutta.

Besides Patekar, the FIR has also been lodged against director Rakesh Sarang, producer Sami Siddiqui and choreographer Ganesh Acharya under Section 354 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Tanushree Dutta was accompanied by her lawyer Nitin Satpute to the police station, where she recorded her statement in regards to the harassment allegations against Patekar, following which the FIR was registered.

Speaking about the details of the statement, Satpute said, “The statement of Tanushree Dutta has been recorded in English so that she can understand the language. They were writing the statement in Marathi. However, we requested them to write it in English so that what happened 10 years ago would not happen again.”

Earlier on Wednesday, Dutta’s lawyer submitted a 40-page document to the Mumbai police and state women’s commission to support her recent complaint lodged with the Mumbai police.

Back in 2008, Tanushree’s father Tapan Kumar Dutta had filed an FIR when she allegedly underwent the ordeal and her car was attacked while exiting the sets of ‘Horn Ok Pleasss’. Tanushree alleged that Patekar had misbehaved with her on the sets of ‘Horn Ok Pleasss’ in 2008 while shooting for a special dance number for the movie. As a retort, Patekar slapped Dutta with a legal notice and demanded a written apology from her.

Taking to his Twitter, the 47-year-old filmmaker wrote, “In the wake of allegations against me and the pressure being put on my family, my producers and the stars of my film Housefull 4, I must take the moral responsibility of stepping down from my directorial post, till the time I can allay the allegations and prove the truth. I request my friends in the media to kindly not pass judgment till the truth is out.”

Three women, namely actor Rachel White, assistant director Saloni Chopra and journalist Karishma Upadhyay, accused Khan of sexual harassment and shared their heart-wrenching ordeals on their respective social media handles.

Taking to Twitter, the ‘Gold’ star wrote, “I have just landed back in the country last night and reading all the news have been very disturbing. I have requested the producers of Housefull 4 to cancel the shoot until further investigation. This is something that requires stringent action. I will not work with any proven offenders and all those who have been subjugated to harassment should be heard and given the justice they deserve.”

Twinkle Khanna

Akshay’s wife, Twinkle Khanna, also urged the Housefull team to take a firm stance on this issue. “Appalled hearing multiple incidents of harassment and it is truly horrific to hear what these women have been through. Everyone involved in Housefull needs to take a firm stance on this issue. This cannot go on,” she tweeted.

#MeToo movement gained momentum in India after actor Tanushree Dutta accused Nata Patekar of harassing her. Since then, incidents of harassment and sexual misconduct have come out in the open, with allegations being leveled against many personalities in the media and entertainment industry, including Subhash Ghai, Vikas Bahl, Alok Nath, and Rajat Kapoor.

Farah said she does not, in any way, support such conduct and if Sajid has indulged in an appropriate behaviour, “he has a lot to atone for.”

She took to Twitter to share her thoughts. “This is a heartbreaking time for my family. We have to work through some very difficult issues. If my brother has behaved in this manner he has a lot to atone for. I don’t in any way endorse this behavior and Stand in solidarity with any woman who has been hurt,” wrote the 53-year-old.

Three women, namely actor Rachel White, assistant director Saloni Chopra and journalist Karishma Upadhyay, accused Sajid of sexual harassment and shared their heart-wrenching ordeals on their respective social media handles.

Nana Patekar, who allegedly harassed Tanushree Dutta, has quit under-production film ‘Housefull 4’. His son Malhar Nana Patekar on Friday announced the veteran actor’s decision of “stepping out of the project” and the reason behind it.

“Nana saheb thought of the convenience of everybody as he wishes the best for the producer and the crew and hence felt that stepping out of the project would be an appropriate thing to do at this point of time,” read the statement.
