RAWALPINDI: The Punjab provincial Interior Ministry removed Saeed Ullah Gondal Superintendent Adyala Jail and five others on the recommendations of two members probe committee.
According to details, a video went viral exhibiting a group of PML N leaders sitting in Superintendent’s office with deposed Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on the occasion of his release from jail after he, his daughter Maryam and son in law Captain (Retd) Safdar were granted bail by Islamabad High Court.
Notification to this effect has been issued by the secretary interior Punjab vide number SO (PRS) 1-1/2018 that includes the names of the suspended jail officials. Besides Saeed Ullah Gondal, Deputy Superintendent Executive Farrukh Rasheed, Asst Superintendent Sajjad Ali, Head Warder Muhammad Arshad and Warder Muhammad Imtiaz have been suspended and directed to report to inspectorate prisons immediately. The Inspectorate Prisons has been directed to record the statement of the guilty officials and take action against them according to the Pubjab Employees efficiency, discipline and accountability Act 2006.
Superintendent Mansoor Akbar has been posted as Superintendent Adyala Jail. Malik Liaqat, Deputy Superintendent Executive Central Jail Multan has been directed to take responsibility of Deputy Superintendent Executive Adyala Jail with immediate effect.
Meanwhile, Hanif Abbasi was on Saturday morning shifted from Adiala prison in Rawalpindi to Attock jail.
Abbasi, who is serving a life sentence after his conviction in the ephedrine quota case, was shifted to the prison in Attock in the early hours of Saturday on the recommendation of a two-member inquiry committee, a source in Adiala jail said.
The committee was formed to investigate how photographs were taken of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif and others in the office of the Central Jail Adiala superintendent prior to Sharif’s release on Wednesday on orders of the Islamabad High Court. Abbasi was one of the leaders seen in the photo.
Formed by Inspector General of Prisons Punjab Shahid Saleem Baig, the committee, which consists of Deputy Inspector General of Prisons Multan Region Malik Shaukat and Additional Inspector General Judicial Malik Safdar, was tasked with investigating who managed to bring a camera or phone into the office of jail superintendent Saeedullah Gondal. Mobile phones and cameras are not permitted within the prison facility.
