SC nullifies Musharraf Rasool appointment as CEO-PIA


ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has nullified the appointment of Musharraf Rasul as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). SC has removed Musharraf Rasool from his post remarking his appointment as CEO PIA has been made against rules and regulations.

The SC bench presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar took up the case for hearing Monday.  During the course of hearing Naeem Bukhari counsel for Musharraf Rasool said advertisement for appointment of CEO PIA was given in 2016.

CJP remarked CEO educational qualification is MBBS. Naeem Bokhari Sahb: have you watched Munna Bhai MBBS film.  Naeem Bokhari said yes, it was an Indian movie wherein a person acts like a doctor.

Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan remarked “ Sardar Mehtab Abbasi came in from here in the appointment.  CJP remarked “ what was the concern of Sardar Mahtab Abbasi in the appointment of CEO.

Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan remarked the committee in connection with appointment of CEO was not constituted as per procedure.  The lawyer of Musharraf Rasool took the plea Civil Aviation advisor did not interfere in the process of appointment of CEO. Musharraf Rasool worked with Mehtab Abbasi for 20 years. 20 years before Musharraf Rasool remained in chief minister house. Musharraf   Rasool evolved plan of revival of PIA. Opportunity of bail out was given to the government. The court gave chance to interim government to review appointment of Musharraf Rasool. Court should give opportunity to new government to review matter of appointment as well. Court should let government to decide about appointment of CEO PIA.

CJP remarked “ PIA paid fee to lawyers who contested Musharraf Rasool case while court had forbidden to do so. Naeem Bokhari said “Sir, let me get fee.  CJP remarked “ Musharraf Rasool should  pay fee out of his own pocket. PIA paid bill of Rs 4 million. Apparently no change in PIA is being witnessed after Musharraf Rasool induction.  The court while declaring Musharraf  Rasool appointment against the law ordered for removing him from his post.
