ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar while hearing the case regarding billboards observed that “establishing housing schemes is not the domain of the army”.
According to details, Chief Justice of Pakistan remarked during the proceeding of the case that and “if army has to do this job then it should do it for its employees and martyrs”.
The three member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar when took up proceeding, the additional Director General DHA submitted before the bench that DHA didn’t place any billboards in Lahore but the same have been exhibited by NLC and NHA. Latif Khosa senior counsel of Supreme Court represented DHA.
Latif Khosa argued that federal or provincial governments don’t provide funds to DHA to which Chief Justice observed that a major part of their budget comes from similar sources.
Chief Justice also expressed his concern over the consequences of the globing warming and the lethargic deportment of the concerned quarters.
The case has been adjourned till last week of Sep while issuing notice to the DHA, Cantonment Board, Pakistan Railways and NHA. Supreme Court directed the parties to file their report concerning billboards within 10 days.
