Constitutional rights should be given to GB people: CJP Nisar


ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has remarked “people of Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir are patriotic Pakistanis. He remarked “I have been wondered over the love of people of Gilgit-Baltistan with Pakistan. Their constitutional rights should be given to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan. We will review the matters pertaining to rights of Gilgit and Baltistan.
He gave these remarks while presiding over 3-member bench of Supreme Court (SC) during the course of hearing of senators dual nationality case here Tuesday.  The lawyer Kamran Murtaza remarked during the course of hearing that “ we did not say any thing like this. But ground realities tell that Gwadar was part  of Oman earlier. Being resident of Oman, the citizenship of Senator Kauda Babar has been written as of Oman.
Lawyer Hamid Khan said in dual nationality case of senator Kauda Babar Gawadar was declared like Kashmir. Gawadar is Pakistan and it has status like Kashmir. The counsel for Kauda Babar said these are the facts that Gawadar and Makran were parts of Oman earlier.
Kamarn Murtaza said the legal point in Senator Kauda Babar case is already pending hearing. Court should review itself that that Gawadar was part of Oman.  The court had suspended his membership of senate on the basis of his citizenship of Oman. Kauda Babar had quit the dual nationality before Senate election. He had informed about cancellation of dual nationality in his nomination papers.
CJP remarked we had not issued any order about senator Kauda Babar.   Kamran Murtaza told the court the court took suo motu notice after Senate election and then his membership of Senate became suspended.
CJP remarked we refer this matter to 7-member bench constituted in respect of dual nationality cases. The court while sending the matter to larger bench adjourned the hearing of the case till September 13.
