Mango festival held in Islamabad to promote the ‘king’ fruit


ISLAMABAD: The holding of mango festival would help to boost the production of the fruit  in the country.  This was said by Caretaker Provincial Minister  for Food  and Agriculture, Planning and Development Punjab Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan at the conclusion ceremony  of the three days mango festival at Centaurus Mall in the federal capital.
The ceremony was attended by among others by Prof Dr. Asif Ali Vice Chancellor Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Agriculture University Multan, Dr . Masoom Yasinzai , Rector International Islamic University Islamabad, Dr. Iqrar Ahmed Khan  Ex Vice  Chancellor University of Agriculture Faisalabad, Dr Sarwat N Mirza Pro Vice Chancellor Pir Mehar Ali Shah University of Arid Agriculture Raswalpindi and Afaq Tiwana President Farmers Association of Pakistan .
The Mango Festival 2018 has attracted massive crowd.  About thirty varieties of mangoes have been displayed for general public. This mega activity is being organised by Inter University Consortium for Promotion of Social Sciences, MNS University of Agriculture Multan, the Centaurus in collaboration with 7 Oceans and Islamabad Chamber of Commerce.
People took keen interest in various varities of mangoes and congratulated the organizers over successful event and brininging the universities, foreign missions, exporters and farmers on one platform to promote export of mango. They assured cooperation of HEC and Punjab HEC in this regard.
A great number of foreigners also paid visit and admired taste of Pakistani mangoes. They were of the view that such events could be greatly helpful in building soft image of Pakistan. On the last date of the festival, mango eating competition was also organised which was actively participated by the children and prizes were distributed among the position holders. Last date, over the demand of public, sale facility of the best varities of mangoes was also provided over the increasing demand of the public.
