Masood Khan emphasises importance of ombudsman


MUZAFFARABAD: AJK President Sardar Masood Khan, President Azad Jammu and Kashmir has said that the office of the Ombudsman plays an important role in providing cheap and easy access to justice for the general public.

The President made these comments while interacting with Mirza Zafar Hussain, Ombudsman Azad Jammu and Kashmir who called on the President here at the Presidency.
The President on the occasion commended the Honourable Ombudsman on opening offices across all three divisions of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and on their outstanding performance over the past year.
The Honourable Ombudsman informed the President that Honourable Ombudsman from across the country will be invited to an annual conference here in Muzaffarabad under the Forum of Pakistan Ombudsman (FPO). The conference will be hosted by the Azad Kashmir Ombudsman.
In a separate meeting, Tariq Farooq, AJK Senior Minister for Physical Planning & Housing, Agriculture & Livestock called on Sardar Masood Khan, President Azad Jammu and Kashmir here at the Presidency today. The President commended the collective efforts of the ruling party in successfully passing the 13th Amendment relating to the AJK Council Reforms. He said that this was a historic milestone achieved under the leadership of AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider. The President praised the Senior Minister for his role played in his articulation on the 13th Amendment.
Imran Cheema
Meanwhile, former federal secretary, Imran Cheema called on President Sardar Masood Khan, President Azad Jammu and Kashmir, here at the Presidency. During the meeting the President was informed by Mr. Cheema – patron of Academy for Competitive Exams (ACE) – of an MoU signed with the University of AJK for opening ACE academy for training and preparing students for various competitive exams and especially the Central Superior Services (CSS) exam.
The President while expressing his appreciation on opening such an academy, said that with a large number of students graduating each year from our universities, there is a huge number of aspirants applying for such exams. Preparation for these exams are being undertaken by them in Islamabad, Lahore and other cities due to which our students face excessive expenditures.
