MUMBAI: Film director Ali Abbas Zafar is roping in some big names for his upcoming venture Bharat. The latest one to join the Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra-starrer is Tabu.
Zafar broke the news on Twitter as he welcomed the actor to the family. The director told Mumbai Mirror: “I’ve been a huge fan of Tabu’s work and always wished to work with her. After several meetings with her, I’m happy it is finally happening with Bharat and am looking forward to the shoot.”
Salman Khan and Tabu have worked on four films in the past, Jeet (1996), Biwi No 1 (1999), Hum Saath Saath Hain (1999), Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai (2011) and Jai Ho (2014)
This film also stars Disha Patani and will mark Priyanka Chopra’s comeback to Bollywood. Bharat is an official adaptation of 2014 South Korean film Ode to My Father. It will release on Eid 2019.
Ali Abbas Zafar’s scouting for locations took him close to the Pak-India border, it appears.
The filmmaker shared a photograph of his recce on Twitter and it’s clear he’s looking towards Pakistan. The sign board reads: “Islamabad 322, Lahore 24 and India Pak Border 2.” The film, which features Priyanka Chopra’s comeback to Bollywood and sees her opposite Salman Khan, is described as the quintessential Bollywood film and an all-out entertainer by the Quantico star.
Priyanka says; Bharat is the quintessential Bollywood movie, which I haven’t done in many years. A lot of them were dramatic and thematic. This one’s going to be out and out entertainment. I’m excited! I haven’t been back to do a movie in two or three years now.”
About the Hollywood projects she recently wound up, she said, “I’ve finished two films: A Kid Like Jake, which comes out in June. And Isn’t it Romantic, which comes out Valentine’s Day 2019. (In the latter) I play a spoiled rich woman who is a yoga guru.”
Priyanka will also be seen in the third season of Quantico, which she is currently shooting in Italy. She’s rumoured to begin shooting for Bharat in August.
