Pankaj Tripathi today is one of India’s best and most reliable actors. And the 65th National Film Awards jury just cemented that fact by awarding Tripathi a Special Mention Award today.
Tripathi won the honour for his role in 2017’s Newton. The Amit V Masurkar-directed Newton won the Best Hindi Language Feature Film too at National Awards 2018. Pankaj Tripathi, who played the role of assistant commandant Aatma Singh in the black comedy, said that he was ‘absolutely delighted’ with the news.

Newton was India’s official entry to the Academy Awards too this year, but could not make it to the final nominations. The film, that starred Rajkummar Rao in the lead role, was a satire on India’s election process. Newton received a thumbs up from both critics and the audience for its story and spellbinding performances.

Taapsee, along with the judge and host of the show Dabboo Ratnani and Malaika Arora, selected the girl who has got the perfect shot while hanging mid-air. “Modelling was my first ever job, so it’s a very nostalgic moment for me to be a part of ‘India’s Next Top Model’. Modelling is not just about being pretty, a perfect model is one who has a blend of tranquility and personality,” Taapsee said in a statement. “I am glad that ‘India’s Next Top Model’ has contestants who have the capabilities to break all the stereotypes,” she added.
Taapsee Pannu (born 1 August 1985) is an actress and model known for her work in South Indian cinema and Bollywood. Taapsee worked as a software professional and also pursued a career in modelling before becoming an actress. During her modelling career, she appeared in a number of commercials. Taapsee made her acting debut with the 2010 Telugu film Jhummandi Naadam, directed by Raghavendra Rao. Since then, she has appeared in a number of critically acclaimed films such as Aadukalam, Vastadu Naa Raju and Mr. Perfect. Her Tamil film Aadukalam won six National Film Awards at the 58th National Film Awards. She has also worked in a Malayalam film and has been signed on for three Telugu films and several Hindi films. She was awarded Most Enthusiastic Performer-Female Award at the 2014 Edison Awards for her performance in the Tamil film Arrambam (2013). In 2015, she starred in the critically and commercially successful film Baby. She went on to star in the drama Pink (2016), the war film The Ghazi Attack (2017), and the comedy Judwaa 2 (2017).
