Every district in AJK will have own university: Sardar Massod


MUZAFFARABAD: AJK President Sardar Masood Khan has said that every district headquarter in Azad Kashmir will have its own university and our Government will ensure that the best educational facilities at every academic level are provided to the people.
The President made these remarks while addressing an award ceremony organized at the Postgraduate Girls College, Pallandri, wherein the President was invited as the chief guest. The President was welcomed by a guard of honour presented by the Girl Guides of the college. The students also presented plays and national songs.
President AJK commended the teachers, management and students on organizing such a splendid event. He praised the students for their confidence and achievements.
In his address, the President underscored the importance of female education, saying that educating female leads to the education of a whole family and a generation. He added that women play a vital role in the character building of a nation. He added that He said that the difference between a developed and non-developed nation is the quality of education it provides to its citizens.
He informed the audience that a sub-campus of Mirpur University of Science and Technology will start functioning in Pallandri. He said that if everything goes to plan, classes at the sub-0campus will start in September, this year.
President Masood Khan urged the students to strive for excellence, excel in their studies by attaining research and innovation-based education. He also advised the students that along with academics, it is pertinent to endeavour for building ones’ character and inculcating values like truthfulness, service to the society and pursue academic and professional excellence. He said as a part of this society it is our duty and responsibility to give back to the society by helping the underprivileged and less fortunate.
The President also presented the high achievers with awards and shields. He expressed his pleasure on the achievements of the students especially in the fields of natural sciences. He congratulated the Principal, teachers, students and their parents on their accomplishments.
The Event was attended by Dr. Najeeb Naqi Khan, Minister for Finance, Planning, Development and Health; Ms. Sehrish Qamar, Member AJK Legislative Assembly, Qazi Muhammad Ibrahim, Divisional Director Colleges; Brigadier Muhammad Khurshid, Principal Cadet College Pallandri, officers of the district administration, a large number of students and their parents.
Earlier, the President on his arrival at Pallandri also met a delegation of journalists from Pallandri who called on him at Pallandri rest house.
The journalists informed the President of various matters concerning the journalist community. In a brief question and answer session, the President informed them of various developmental projects in AJK, specifically touching on the projects coming under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor. He also informed them that the promotion tourism is a priority of the Government and in the coming years a ‘Tourism Corridor’ will be made, which will pass through AJK.
Later, the President also administered the oath to the newly elected members of the District Bar Association, Pallandri. The President while talking to the members of the Bar said that their utmost priority is to uphold the law of the state and ensure justice to the people. He said universal access to justice must be ensured. He said that as experts on law, they must use their collective acumen in advocating the Kashmir issue in a more professional and legal manner.
