Khurram Dastagir and Ahsan Iqbal react over new development


LONDON: Pakistan Minister for Defence Khurram Dastgir Khan has said that the possibility of the US action inside Pakistan could not be ruled out. He termed the Tweet by US president following by statements by different US officials height of anti-Pakistani thinking and said that the US needed to learn from Pakistan to fight terrorism instead of moving towards animosity.
In an interview with BBC s Urdu Service, Khurram Dastgir said while many organisations had been banned at the international level yet Pakistan was taking action after a great deal of consideration. He said Pakistan could not take guns and start raiding its people but would take all the decisions after serious thinking.
He said that recent actions against Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) were part of operation Raddul Fasaad and had nothing to do with the American statements. He said the action had been taken to secure future of Pakistan and bring an end to terrorism so that no terrorist could target children in schools.
He held India responsible for deterioration in relations between Pakistan and the US and said New Delhi was using Afghan soil against Pakistan.
He said the Pak US relationship had gone beyond friendship and animosity and Islamabad had told Washington in categorical terms that it should not blame Pakistan for their failure in Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, Minister for Interior Ahsan Iqbal has said Pakistan is sorting those thorns which were thrown orspread by the US.
The minister whiling terming the remarks of the US President Donald Trump disappointing, said Pakistan has given innumerable sacrificesin war against terrorism to maintain stability and peace in the region. Khawaja Asif through a series of tweets reminded the United States of the services Pakistan had rendered during the past several years, particularly in the war against terrorism.
The foreign minister said, “The history teaches us not to blindly trust the US.” “You have asked what did we do? A dictator surrendered [before the US] on a single phone call, our country witnessed the worse bloodbath, you carried out 57,800 attacks on Afghanistan from our bases, your forces were supplied arms and explosives through our soil, thousands of our civilians and soldiers became victims of the war initiated by you,” he tweeted.
“For the past four years, we have been clearing the debris. Our forces are fighting in an exemplary manner, there is an unending saga of sacrifices. The past teaches us not to blindly trust the US. We are feeling sorry as you are not happy but we will not compromise on our prestige anymore,” he concluded.
