Abbasi, Maleeha discuss ways to highlight Kashmir issue at UN


ISLAMABAD: The permanent representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi, called on Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi at the Prime Minister’s office on Tuesday.

ISLAMABAD: Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi called on Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in Islamabad on December 26, 2017.

She briefed the prime minister on a range of issues and current developments at the UN.
Ambassador Lodhi informed Mr Abbasi on the recent overwhelming vote in the general assembly which was co-sponsored by Pakistan along with other Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) countries on the status of Jerusalem.
This was in pursuance of the decision, announced by Prime Minister Abbasi at the OIC emergency summit earlier this month that the issue of the status of Jerusalem be taken to the UNGA if the Security Council was unable to act on it.
According to sources, during the meeting, it was decided to emphasis more on Kashmir issue and adoption of concrete ways to highlight this human issue. “Abbasi also sought suggestions from Dr. Maleeha Lodhi to double the efforts in exposing the human rights violations in J&K by Indian forces and New Delhi Government there.
