Bone chilling cold, Kangri in demand


SRINAGAR: Amid the bone chilling winter cold sans genuine power supply in Kashmir, the traditional fire pot locally known as Kangri is left as the last resort for locals to fight the winter chill.
With the intensified cold wave in Kashmir for past one month valleyities are resorting to the use of Kangri to keep themselves warm. Moreover, the people associated with this trade revealed that Kangri sales have picked up given the dependence of sophisticated gadgets on electricity which vanishes in Kashmir with the onset of the winter season. The locals associated with making and selling of Kangris said there was an increasing demand for the same since the very beginning of the intense cold conditions. They said the demand had increased manifold owing to continued drop in temperature that has resulted in extreme cold weather conditions.
