WOLVERHAMPTON: A professionally trained mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter has been handed a Good Citizens award for helping to restrain a violent man last winter. Back in October 2016, one of our bobbiesspotted a wanted man walking around Wolverhampton city centre and bravely swooped in to arrest him single-handedly. But unfortunately the crook fought back.
Abu Khauteeb spotted the struggle and rushed over to help. Well-versed in restraint techniques, Abu safely restrained the man, allowing the officer to handcuff him. He was later charged with a number of offences including assault, criminal damage and possession of class B drugs. Abu not only used his MMA skills to safely restrain a violent man, but waited with the officer until back-up arrived and he could be transported to custody. His brave actions helped get a dangerous criminal off the streets and back behind bars, and he was duly presented with a Good Citizens award at a ceremony on Tuesday 5 December at Tally Ho.
