9 new platforms for Jammu Railway Station

JAMMU: Nine more platforms will be constructed at Jammu Tawi Railway Station, stating this, Northern Railways General Manager Vishbesh Chaubey, on his maiden visit here has said that new platforms will be constructed at Jammu Tawi Railway Station to de-congest rush of visitors.
It was his first visit to Jammu Tawi Railway Station after taking over the charge.
Chaubey said nine new platforms and new entry gate will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 180 crore.”The work will start soon on construction of platforms and it will begin on PPP mode,” said the GM.
He however, also advocated for updating of time table of arrival and departure of trains. Chaubey said that washing lines will be increased at the Railway Station to avoid rush of trains at the washing yard.
“New Washing Yard will be set up at Railway Station, Bari Brahmana as rails during foggy weather conditions arrive late and go to washing yard for cleaning following which departure delays,” said the Railway officer.
Presently there are three washing lines and five more will be raised so that delay in departure of trains due to trains standing at the washing yard, can be prevented, he added.
