Ayesha Gulalai levels new allegations against Imran Khan

PESHAWAR: In a new development in series of allegations, estranged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Ayesha Gulalai claimed on Tuesday that party chief Imran Khan had called upon his supporters to throw acid on her face.
On Sunday, Gulalai had tweeted that a committee was formed to probe into her allegations of sexual harassment against the PTI chief but he was yet to turn up before it. “Tell him [Imran] to be there. I was ready to provide evidence against him [back then] and still am,” she added.
On August 1, Gulalai had accused the PTI chief and his ‘gang’ of sending lewd text messages to women workers, saying they were constantly harassed within the party.
“It is my integrity that matters to me the most,” the MNA told reporters. “I cannot compromise when it comes to my honour and dignity.”
According to the disgruntled lawmaker, victims of harassment in Pakistan were not listened to unless they commit suicide or take a similar adverse step to get themselves noticed.
The PTI had dismissed the allegations and served a legal notice to Gulalai to prove her harassment allegations against party chief Imran Khan or apologise, otherwise she would be sued for Rs30 million.

Imran also wrote a letter to the National Assembly speaker seeking the termination of Gulalai’s parliament membership.In the letter, the PTI chief had requested the speaker and the chief election commissioner to take action against Gulalai, an MNA from South Waziristan elected on a reserved seat for women, under Article 63-A (2) of the Constitution.Imran avoids comments Meanwhile, avoiding to comments on Ayesha Gulalai’s new allegations, Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan stressed on party affairs.
Addressing the students in Malakand University, Imran Khan said one year was passed in sit-ins while the other one went in the probe of Panama Leaks case and PTI will improve the system of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) after coming into power as the country can only progress by believing in supremacy of the law.

He asked why those who were elected for six times in Punjab and Sindh could not improve police department in their provinces.
Talking on the performance of police department, Khan said that terrorism has been reduced by 70 percent in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) due to security personnel’s effective strategies. He said we made police department apolitical in the province.
He continued that PTI will improve the system of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) after coming into power as the country can only progress by believing in supremacy of the law.
He said actual democratic procedure has not yet been implemented in Pakistan.
Discussing the educational sector, Imran Khan said three different academic systems that include English medium, Madrassas and government schools are being run in the country and none of them follow merit.
EC reserves judgment
Meanwhile, Election Commission of Pakistan while reserving the judgment in disqualification reference against Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf  defiant member National Assembly Ayesha Gulalai adjourned the hearing till October 24.
ECP five members bench presided over by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sardar Raza Hayat  took up the case for hearing on Tuesday. During the course of hearing C EC Sardar Raza Hayat while addressing PTI Counsel Sikandar Bakhsh said, “what is the procedure of resignation in your party?
PTI Counsel replied, there is no procedure laid down in  PTI constitution for suspension of  any party member and party chairman has the authority to suspend or expel  any party member. He said Ayesha Gulalai turned defiant after announcing to quit the party. Therefore, her assembly membership be cancelled as she has deviated from party policy.
He further said that her resignation  is not mandatory for leaving party. However, Ayesha Gulalai Counsel Barrister Masroor has rejected all allegation leveled against his  client.
He while presenting details of showcause, Courier Company booking and delivery said malafide intention has come to fore  regarding showcause notices as showcause notice was posted after lapse of fixed date  and PTI Chief didn’t give a chance to Ayesha for filing reply.
He said the notice whose reply was sought at August 17 was posted at August 18.\
He said neither Ayesha has left PTI nor has she said about resigning  from her seat in National Assembly on August 07.  On it CEC said that transcript of Ayesha speech in the NA should be provided to ECP.
Election commission while reserving the judgment after hearing arguments adjourned the hearing till October 24. Verdict will be announced on October 24.
