Abbas jailed for kidnapping, woman discovered in car boot

LONDON: A man has been jailed for kidnap after a woman was discovered in the boot of his car.  Shafak Abbas, 24, of Wickford Street, E1 was sentenced on Friday, 29 September to 15 months’ imprisonment. He had been found guilty on Friday, 15 September at Snaresbrook Crown Court, following a four-day trial.

Officers captured the incident on their Body Worn Videos. The footage, which was played during the trial, greatly assisted in the prosecution as it showed the victim being discovered in the boot of the car. It also captured Abbas’s admissions about driving whilst disqualified and being in possession of a firearm.

Specialist firearms officers in a police vehicle spoke to an occupant of a stationary vehicle on Tuesday, 18 April at 12:10hrs in Kingfield Street.
